Managers merry-go round: Rafa Benitez manager of Chelsea
Rafael Benítez, 53, Chelsea Possible destination: Real Madrid, Monaco, PSG
The Spaniard will leave Chelsea whatever Mourinho decides. A job swap with the Portuguese is perhaps possible due to Benítez’s proven La Liga pedigree in taking Valencia to two titles. A Champions League triumph when at Liverpool plus time with Internazionale also decorate his CV so if not Madrid Benítez’s experience would appeal to a host of other clubs

André Villas-Boas, 35, Tottenham Possible destination: Real Madrid
Still only midway though his thirties, the Portuguese has the experience of managing and being sacked by Chelsea inside a season before rebounding to take Spurs close to Champions League qualification for next term. Managers merry-go round: Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini
Roberto Mancini, 48, Manchester City Possible destination: Monaco
His position is up for review with even victory in next month’s FA Cup final with Wigan Athletic plus a second place finish not saving the Italian from a close-season showdown with the City executives. Fearing the sack last summer, before he claimed the title, Mancini explored the possibility of taking on the Monaco project. Their expected promotion to Ligue 1 should presage a considerable investment and they will require a high-calibre manager

Managers merry-go round: Malaga head coach Manuel Pellegrini
Manuel Pellegrini, 59, Málaga Possible destination: Manchester City, Chelsea, Inter
Against the backdrop of Málaga’s financial problems, Jesus Martinez, Pellegrini’s agent, was seen lunching with Txiki Begiristain, the Manchester City director of football, in Spain on Monday. The Chilean has managed Real Madrid and speaks good English so if Mancini departs City he would have little problem handling the focus on the world’s richest club

Managers merry-go round: Arsene Wenger
Arsène Wenger, 63, Arsenal Possible destination: PSG
After 17 years in north London – the last eight of which have been trophyless – Wenger may decide now is the time for a new challenge. Managers merry-go round: Borussia Dortmund Head Coach Jurgen Klopp
Jürgen Klopp, 45, Borussia Dortmund Possible destination: Arsenal, Spurs
Klopp can now count himself in the first rank of managerial hotshots after knocking out Real to take Dortmund into the Champions League final. If Wenger does depart Arsenal they want his successor to have a similar philosophy so Klopp’s fluid mode of play and equable demeanour would cause serious discussion at the club

Managers merry-go round: Pep Guardiola
Pep Guardiola, 42, no club Destination: Bayern Munich
The Spaniard took a sabbatical from football following four stellar years in charge of Barcelona where he led Lionel Messi, Xavi, Andrés Iniesta and company to three La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies. Guardiola chose Bayern as he believes the club has a similar philosophy on and off the field to Barça

Managers merry-go round: Bayern Munich Head coach Jupp Heynckes
Jupp Heynckes, 67, Bayern Munich Possible destination: PSG, Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham
Guardiola replaces him in the summer so the German could walk away holding the Bundesliga (already secured) and Champions League (Bayern face Borussia Dortmund in the final). With two other German titles and the 1998 European Cup, the continent's major clubs would give him serious consideration

Managers merry-go round: Coach of Paris Saint Germain Carlo Ancellotti
Carlo Ancelotti, 53, PSG Possible destination: Real Madrid, Monaco, Borussia Dortmund
Ancelotti’s success in all but securing the French title – PSG are nine points clear with four games remaining – has further enhanced the résumé of the Italian who is interesting Real, and he would find it hard to turn the Spanish champions down. If Ancelotti did sign on, Real would join PSG, Chelsea, Milan and Juventus as the continent’s elite clubs he has coached

Managers merry-go round: Michael Laudrup
Michael Laudrup, 48, Swansea City Possible destination: Real Madrid, Manchester City
The Dane has impressed with his stylish touch during an inaugural Premier League season in which he has steered the Swans to mid-table respectability – they stand ninth – and a first major trophy, the League Cup. A Real Madrid and Barcelona great when a player, he is interesting Los Blancos as Mourinho’s replacement

Managers merry-go round: David Moyes
David Moyes, 50, Everton Possible destination: Tottenham
Moyes is holding tight before deciding whether to continue into a 13th year at Everton. A vacancy at Spurs, where he was considered as Harry Redknapp’s replacement last summer, would suit as the Scot would have the better players at his disposal required to try and finally win silverware
