The oldest person in Europe has died at the age of 116, it has emerged.
Maria Giuseppa Robucci, from Apulia, Italy, was also the second oldest person in the world.
Maria, known as 'Nonna Peppa', celebrated her birthday on March 20.
She became the only the third Italian in history to reach the milestone.
The supercentinarian died today in Poggio Imperiale at the age of 116 years and 90 days.
Inspirational Nonna Peppa previously credited her longevity to a healthy diet, her faith in god and avoiding alcohol.
Her death comes after the oldest woman in Britain died last week.
Grace Jones, known to her friends as "Amazing Grace", died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Broadway, Worcestershire, at the age of 112.
Mrs Jones, a Liverpudlian by birth, was born on September 16, 1906 – only five years after the death of Queen Victoria.
She lived through 26 prime ministers, five monarchs and survived both world wars.
