Europe weather forecast as it happened: ‘hell’ heatwave sweeps continent leaving at least three dead

A record-breaking heatwave is sweeping across Europe with meteorologists warning of a threat to life to people in France.

Parts of the continent will reach a sweltering 40C, with forecasters warning the hottest June on record could take place.

French Health Minister Agnes Buzyn said more than half of France is on alert for high temperatures and the hot weather is expected to last until the end of the week, with most of the country being placed on high alert.

According to local reports in France, three people have died from “thermal shock” since the boiling temperatures hit.
