At least four people have been killed after flash floods caused by heavy rain across France, Germany and Austria.

Residents in towns and villages along Bavaria’s south-eastern border with Austria faced cut roads and bridges, with some having to head to rooftops to avoid the rising waters.

Weather forecaster Metro France described the flooding as “exceptional, worse than the floods of 1910”.
