Europa League final, Chelsea vs Arsenal: Olivier Giroud mocks Gunners during celebrations in Baku

Olivier Giroud appeared to mock Arsenal during Chelsea’s Europa League celebrations after helping the Blues beat his former club in Baku.

The French forward moved across London in January 2018 and has played a key role in both the FA Cup victory last year and Wednesday night’s triumph.

The former Gunner has shone in the competition throughout the campaign, hitting 11 goals in 14 matches to edge out Eintracht Frankfurt’s Luka Jovic for top scorer.

The 32-year-old headed in the opening goal of the night but initially refused to celebrate, holding his hands up following six seasons in north London.

But after picking up the trophy after the game, Giroud mocked his former club on the team bus, having earlier declared he was now a “true blue”.

“Thank you, Arsenal,” Giroud can be heard screaming while lifting the silverware during Jorginho’s live Instagram stream.

Giroud extended his contract until 2020 this month, admitting his delight at remaining at Stamford Bridge.

“I am very happy to sign a new contract. I really wanted to stay at least one more year,” Giroud said.

“I have felt a part of the team, the family, since the beginning and hopefully there will be more trophies to come.”
