And that’s it for me. Celtic battled bravely with 10 men but to no avail, while Tottenham looked to have one eye on Sunday’s Capital One Cup final with Chelsea.
The two Merseyside clubs offer the only British hope in the Europa League.

Full-time: Inter 1-0 Celtic (4-3)
And Commons is issued a yellow card as he leaves the pitch, the Celtic man frustrated no doubt by a refereeing display which saw Van Dijk dismissed after a soft first yellow card, and Guarín lucky to escape red for an elbow before he struck a superb winning goal.
It’s going to extra-time in Turkey. Follow it here with Paul Doyle.
Full-time: Fiorentina 2-0 Tottenham (3-1)
Harry Kane can’t make an impact as one Spurs route to next season’s Champions League slips by.

Full-time: Red Bull Salzburg 1-3 Villarreal (2-5)
All over in Austria.
Full-time: Legia Warsaw 0-3 Ajax (0-4)
Ajax in to the last 16 with some ease.
In to injury time at Fiorentina. And La Viola’s fans are in fine voice. They know this game is won.
We might hear more of that Guarín elbow (19.36). He was lucky to be on the pitch to strike that fabulous winner.
Goal! Inter 1-0 Celtic (Guarín, 88)
What a hit from Guarín! Inter break forward after a brief Celtic flurry forward, and the ball comes to the midfielder 30 yards out, he looks up and lashes it into the top left corner. Fantastic goal.
That’s 4-3 on aggregate. Tie over.
Updated
A late yellow card for Matthews. And a free-kick for Inter on the right-hand side of the box, as Palacio is felled. The kick is cleared and Medel strikes well over from the edge of the box.
Desperate defending by Celtic. As at first Scott Brown and then Craig Gordon come to their rescue and mean they still have a glimmer of hope. Five minutes plus added on time remaining.
Goal! Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-3 Sevilla (Vitolo, 79)
Sevilla now with a two-goal advantage in the tie.
Updated
Can Celtic provide an upset? And Kris Commons has a pop for a late winner, but it’s held easily by Neto in the Inter goal. This is a very credible display by their 10-men, if only Van Dijk had stayed on the pitch.
Fiorentina running the Tottenham defence ragged. Repeated runs down the right from Salah, with Vertonghen providing one saving tackle, eventually result in a free-kick near the corner flag after Lamela’s foul.
The kick is held in the corner flag, before Spurs win it back. Fiorentina happy to run down the clock with nine minutes remaining.
Goal! Red Bull Salzburg 1-3 Villarreal (Giovani, 79)
2-5, and surely Villarreal are through.
Updated
Guarín is lucky to escape red. He swings his elbow into Johansen’s face, but the referee deems it only a yellow card. Lucky Inter.
Updated
Dynamo Kiev 3-1 Guingamp (Gusev, 75pen)
Dyanmo go 4-3 up on aggregate.
Goal! Red Bull Salzburg 1-2 Villarreal (Vietto, 76)
2-4 on aggregate.
Jesus gets a bit feisty in Milan. He squares up with Johansen before being ushered away by D’Ambrosio to avoid any further silliness.
That was a splendid goal by Fiorentina, the 1-2 between Salah and Gomez on the edge of the Spurs area befuddled the defence and the finish left Lloris with no chance.
Goal! Fiorentina 2-0 Tottenham (Salah, 71)
And no sooner have I said... Tottenham with a lot to do in the last 20 minutes.
Gomez and Salah exchange passes and Salah is through blasting high past Lloris.
Updated
Goal! Dynamo Kiev 2-1 Guingamp 1 (Mandanne, 66)
3-3 on aggregate.
Fiorentina are dropping deeper now. Spurs are piling forward, but haven’t managed to find a way through the massed ranks of purple. They best be careful though, as one ball out to Salah on the right nearly undoes them again, Jan Vertonghen comes to the rescue with a last-ditch slide tackle.
Tottenham trying to feed Kane. The striker starts a move 30 yards out, feeding it out wide to Ben Davies on the left. Kane bursts into the box, but the cross is long and drifts out of play.
Inter corner. Celtic caught with too many players upfield and Inter break, Santon winning a corner off an infuriated Izaguirre. Shaqiri takes and Ranocchia heads wide.
Enter Harry Kane. Minutes later Kane makes his entrance, Tottenham need his inspiration if they are going to keep their European hopes alive.
Nearly 2-0 Fiorentina. They work the ball through the middle to Salah, who is through on Lloris. He strikes it into the goalkeepers legs, and the Frenchman clutches it gratefully. All the while Harry Kane is getting his instructions waiting to come on.
So close from Hernanes. A headed clearance from Ambrose drops on to his left foot, and he doesn’t quite connect properly and squirms inches wide of Gordon’s post.
Guidetti is off, and he does not look happy to be replaced by James Forrest.
With about 30 minutes remaining, the only British side through is Liverpool (and you’d imagine Everton will join them in the last-16 after their second leg against Young Boys).
Inter nearly make it 1-0. Craig Gordon to the rescue again as he stands tall to keep out Guarín’s shot.
That’s obviously not good for Spurs. But they needed a goal already, now it will just take them to extra-time rather than sealing the tie.
Updated
Goal! Fiorentina 1-0 Tottenham (Gomez, 54)
Tottenham do a passable impression of their North-London neighbours, defenders holding far too high a line and one pass sends Mario Gomez through and past the entire Tottenham team. He jogs forward with the ball and slips it comfortably past Lloris.
2-1 on aggregate.
Updated
Celtic enjoying plenty of early possession. But they have to be careful that Inter don’t sucker them in. Hernanes breaks forward, and curls a shot towards Gordon’s left-hand post. The goalkeeper scrabbles across to palm it clear.
Goal! Dynamo Kiev 2-0 Guingamp (Buyalsky, 46)
That’s now 3-2 on aggregate to Dynamo.
Yellow card for Ben Davies. The free-kick is lofted out to Joaquin on the left, but when the ball eventually makes it into the box it’s easily cleared. Fiorentina work the ball back out to Salah, he crosses and the subsequent shot from Badelj is gathered by Lloris.
Updated
Palacio blasts over. It’s a half-decent chance, with a Guarín finding the neat run of Palacio, but from just inside the area Palacio blasts high.
Fiorentina threatening early on. Salah darting about on the right and Joaquín on the left causing the Spurs defence problems, but the final ball in to the box isn’t good enough.
Updated
Celtic on the front foot. But Inter nick the ball from Johansen on the edge of the area and take it forward.

And we're back under way!
Both sets of Italian fans looking happy and confident...
Celtic will be cursing the stupidity of Virgil van Dijk. While I’m sure Deila will complain bitterly about the first yellow card, but it’s the next challenge is sheer idiocy. After that it was all Inter, which is shame as they’d been holding their own up to then.
In Florence, Pochettino will be pretty happy with what’s he’s seen, Salah’s causing them problems, but with Harry Kane on the bench they’re capable of scoring the goal they need.
That miss by Soldado was a corker though...

Half-time in Italy and it's goalless
A late corner for Inter comes to nothing, while a header from Soldado is saved in Florence.
As it stands both Celtic and Tottenham are out on away goals, while Liverpool are going through, with the score 0-0 in Turkey.

Goal! Legia Warsaw 0-3 Ajax (Milik, 42)
Stroll in the park for Ajax.
An almighty scramble in the Celtic box. First Shaqiri hammers it into a Celtic defender, it bounces to D’Ambrosio and he wellies it towards Gordon’s goal, it strikes the keeper and is cleared. Celtic living on the edge.
Inter close again. Shaqiri puts in a tempting cross, and the captain Andrea Rannocchia gets on the end of it, but can only steer the ball up and over the bar.
Gary Mackay-Steven makes way. Efe Ambrose takes his place to sure up the Celtic defence.
Red card! Celtic's Virgil van Dijk (36)
A second bookable offence for Van Dijk. The first may have been soft, but this is stupid from the Dutch defender. Icardi’s running down the left and Van Dijk takes him down. The referee can’t find his red card, but the second yellow is out and he’s off.
From the resulting free-kick Inter nearly double the punishment, Icardi gets on the end of the free-kick and Gordon makes an excellent save.

Corner for Celtic. After some good work from Mackay-Steven. Armstrong swings it in, but despite complaints,it goes out for a goal-kick when it should have been a second corner. It was Davide Santon that hoofed the ball out of play.

Pretty quiet at the San Siro. Celtic are holding their own and playing patiently, but haven’t had much of a sniff since that penalty shout.
Goal! Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-2 Sevilla (Hazard, 29)
What a game this seems to be, the former-Chelsea boy Hazard makes it 2-2 on the night. What a way to celebrate signing a permanent deal at Gladbach.

How have Spurs not scored! Fiorentina charge forward, but with Gomez refusing to stay on side Salah must go it alone. he does well, running it past Fazio and winning a corner off the Spurs defender.
The corner is cleared easily and suddenly Tottenham break via Lamela. He play Soldado through on goal, but instead of shooting he attempts to square the ball to Chadli, and the Fiorentina keeper grasps the ball gratefully. What a waste. Soldado had so much time.

Virgil van Dijk gets a yellow card which will rule him out of a potential last-16 match, going into the back of Palacio. He may get the ball but he takes a lot of the player, and the referee brandishes the card.
Goal! Zenit 3-0 PSV (Rondon, 67)
All over in St Petersburg.
Brown is robbed in the Celtic midfield and Palacio charges forward, the ball is spread to the right, but Guarín can’t get the ball to Santon wide of him, and it’s a goal-kick for Celtic.

After that flurry of goals from around Europe there’s been nothing from the games involving British teams – Liverpool will be content with that, but not Celtic or Spurs.

Big shout for a penalty in Milan.
Armstrong runs through, and he gets ahead of Davide Santon and goes tumbling in the box. The Celtic player is adamant he was pushed, but the referee is having none of it.
Goals, goals, goals!
Ajax take the lead at Legia Warsaw, through Arkadiusz Milik, to make it 2-0 on aggregate, and Borussia Mönchengladbach are a goal down thanks to Carlos Bacca for Sevilla, 2-0 on aggregate.

Palacio nearly sneaks through the Celtic defence, but the outstretched leg of Van Dijk manages to turn the ball back to Gordon and Celtic get it safe.

And we're off
In Milan and Florence.
Tottenham have some early possession, while in MIlan, there’s an early chance for Inter, and an early injury for Adam Matthews.
Craig Gordon saves the shot comfortable, but the defender stays down injured. After some magic spray and a jog along the touchline he’s back up and the game is underway.
It looks like Christian Eriksen will be playing in the middle, the No10 role he is surely best suited to. Fiorentina will need to keep him quiet to get the better of Spurs.
Updated
And at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, Christian Eriksen et al are lining up alongside their Fiorentina counterparts.
And I have lift-off. Celtic and Inter are lined up in the tunnel about to hit the San Siro pitch. If it’s half as good as the first leg we’re in for a real treat.

Zenit St Petersburg 1-0 PSV (2-0)
Dinamo Moscow 0-1 Anderlecht (0-1)

No such problems for Paul Doyle, he will actually be watching Besiktas v Liverpool, link at the top of the page.
Some slight technical difficulties here are Guardian Towers – hopefully the TVs will be up and running before 6pm, or I’ll merely be a glorified version of the score updates above.
For example, Aleksandr Mitrovic has put Anderlecht a goal up at Dinamo Moscow, to give them the lead in their tie, while Zenit have a goal from Rondón against PSV, making it 2-0 on aggregate.
The Italian jobs
Two British teams, both alike in dignity, in fair Italia where we lay our scene ...
Doesn’t quite scan does it? Perhaps better to stick to Michael Caine and blowing bloody doors off. In any case, both Celtic and Tottenham travel to Italy with their ties delicately poised – 3-3 between Inter and Celtic, 1-1 for Spurs and Fiorentina.
Ronny Deila’s Celtic reign did not get off to the most auspicious of starts, but having reasserted themselves at the top of the SPL, and with an uncomfortably comfortable Old Firm victory under his belt, things are looking up in the hooped portion of Glasgow. A victory at Inter, even a slightly underpowered Inter, would be a hugely impressive feather for Deila’s cap, as the man himself said: “If we can get an historic win here it will be the moment of our lives.”
Tottenham will feel more confident travelling to Fiorentina. The mere mention of the Florence club is enough to conjure images of Batistuta, Rui Costa and Nintendo-sponsored purple shirts in the mind of anyone old enough to remember the glory days of Football Italia on Channel 4, with our very own AC Jimbo. One of the players from those halcyon days is now in the dugout, to make us all feel very old, and Vincenzo Montella’s side are in fifth, pushing hard for a Champions League place, much as Tottenham are in the Premier League.
Montella lost Juan Cuadrado in January, but Mohamed Salah who moved the other way on loan, has been firing on all cylinders, and his team are unbeaten in 10. With Spurs gearing up for the Capital One Cup on Sunday, the team could be rotated, with Mauricio Pochettino putting domestic cup success above this second leg against La Viola, and the Champions League place that comes with victory in the Europa League.
There are seven other matches kicking off early – including Liverpool which will be well covered by my colleague Paul Doyle here.
I’ll try to keep you updated with all the other goals as they fly in.
The teams are in

Toby will be here shortly. While you wait, here is James Riach, teeing up Fiorentina v Tottenham from
Much has been made of Tottenham’s make-or-break double-header this week – crucial back-to-back games against Fiorentina and Chelsea – yet for La Viola this is also a decisive moment of the season.
The same question has been levelled at both Mauricio Pochettino and Vincenzo Montella in recent weeks, before Thursday night’s meeting between the sides at Stadio Artemio Franchi: what is the best way of securing Champions League qualification this year: through the Premier League and Serie A respectively, or via success in the Europa League?
