When the Europa League group stage draw takes place and who Arsenal, Man Utd & Wolves could face

The Premier League is now underway, but soon attention will be turning to European competitions again.

Arsenal will be in the Europa League again this season after losing out to Chelsea in the final of the competition at the end of last season. A

After only finishing in fifth place in the Premier League at the end of 2018/19, and the loss it that final, the Gunners will now have to settle for a place in the Europa League along with Manchester United, who finished one place behind Unai Emery's men in the Premier League.

Wolverhampton Wanderers could also look to be joining the duo to make it a trio of Premier League teams in the draw. A seventh place finish last season along with Manchester City winning both the FA and League Cup earned them a place in the qualifying rounds. They currently lead Armenian side Pyunik by four goals to nil going into the second leg of the third qualifying round.

When is the draw for the group stage?

The draw for the group stages of the competition will take place in Monaco on Friday August 30th, although no official time has been set for the ceremony, the traditional time is 5pm BST

This is when Arsenal, United a Wolves will find out who they will face in the group stage, where they will face three other sides as the competition is split into 12 groups of four.

Who are the potential opponents Arsenal could face in the group stage?

The likely pots for the draw can be found below, although the pots are yet to be fully confirmed. Arsenal and Manchester United are included in pot 1, while Wolves would be in pot 4 should they confirm their qualification. The only jurisdiction in the draw is that teams from the same country can not be drawn in the same group.

When are the group stage matches?

The six group stage matches will then take place between September and December, with matchday one coming on 19th September.  The dates of the other group matches can be found below.

Matchday two - 3rd October

Matchday three - 24th October

Matchday four - 7th November

Matchday five - 28th November

Matchday six - 12th December

When will the knockout stages take place?

The round of 32 matches will be in February, before the draw for the round of 16 on February 28.

The draws for the quarter-finals and semi-finals will then take place on March 20, the day after the round of 16 ties are completed.

And the final will be at the Gdansk Stadium on May 27, 2020.
