Europa Conference League draw simulated: West Ham could face Fiorentina as Lazio avoid Nice tie

West Ham United are just over 24 hours away from discovering who they will face in the Europa Conference League’s round of 16.

For the Hammers, it is their second successive season of reaching the knockout stages of a European competition, having got to the semi-finals of last season’s Europa League.

While in the Premier League David Moyes’ men currently sit 18th in the table and a point behind safety, in Europe, it has been a perfect campaign, winning all eight of their matches and becoming the first side ever in the competition’s short history to win all six of their group stage matches.

The reward for West Ham and the seven other Europa Conference League group stage winners was to skip the play-off knockout round, which was concluded on Thursday night. In Friday’s round of 16 draw, West Ham, and the other seven group stage winners, Slovan Bratislava, Sivasspor, AZ Alkmaar, Nice, Istanbul Basaksehir, Villarreal and Djurgardens, will be drawn away to one of the eight winners of the play-off knockout round.

To get an early sneak peek of who West Ham may face, football.london simulated the draw to see who West Ham and the rest of the sides could face in next month’s knockout round. In the draw, sides from the same country cannot be drawn against each other, although that does not affect West Ham as they are the only English side in the competition.

For West Ham, it is a trip to Italy take on the winners on Fiorentina. Elsewhere, Italian giants Lazio were drawn to take on Slovakian side Slovan Bratislava.

Also in the simulation, Nice were drawn away at Lech Poznan, while Villarreal would be heading to either Gent.
