Euromillions winning ticket bought in North Somerset worth £500K claimed

Someone in North Somerset has had a good start to September – after winning £500,000 on the lottery.

Operator of the National Lottery, Camelot, put out a plea last month after a prize pot of £500,000 on the Thunderball game remained unclaimed.

The ticket was purchased on August 14 in North Somerset with the lucky purchaser matching five main numbers and the Thunderball in the draw.

Now following an appeal for people to check their tickets, a claim for the prize has been made.

The claim will now go through the process of validation which includes checks to ensure the Games Rules Terms and Conditions are adhered to.

Subject to validation the prize will then be paid at an appointment with one of Camelot’s winners’ advisers.

Camelot’s Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said, “It is fantastic news that the lucky ticket-holder has now claimed their prize.

“We will now focus on supporting the ticket-holder through the process.

“We’re encouraging all National Lottery players to check their tickets online on the National Lottery app or website, or in their local store.

“You can scan your retail draw-based game tickets on The National Lottery App to see if you’ve won a prize.”

Thanks to National Lottery players, up to £600 million is being used by charities and organisations affected by the impact of the coronavirus outbreak across the arts, community and charity, heritage, education, environment and sport sectors.

This includes up to £300 million in funding support from the National Lottery Community Fund which is being used to help groups best placed to support people and communities through the crisis - from helping support food banks to causes that combat loneliness and isolation, support for the elderly and projects that aid health in the community.

By playing The National Lottery, an average of £30 million is raised every week by National Lottery players for projects big and small across the country.
