Euromillions winner set to lose £270k in Scottish castle sale after ditching renovation plans

Euromillions winner Gillian Bayford is set to lose more than £270,000 on a Scottish castle after ditching plans to renovate it and putting it back up for sale.

The multimillionaire, who scooped £148million with her ex-husband Adrian in 2012, bought Chesterhill House near Newport-on-Tay, Fife, for £619,990 last year.

But after spending tens of thousands on getting plans for the demolition of parts of the 19th century listed building and the addition of a movie room, pool and sauna, it is back on the market with offers accepted above £350,000.

It means 47-year-old Gillian, who split from Adrian 15 months after their win, is set to lose £270,000.

She has also forked out for asbestos removal.

Planning documents note that “Chesterhill House is a structure in a serious state of decline”.

It is not the only trouble the jackpot winner faces – she is set to stand trial over allegations she attacked an ex, Gavin Innes.

The multimillionaire is accused of assaulting the 46-year-old domestic abuse campaigner on three occasions while they were dating.

She denies the claims.

Chesterhill House is described as the “ultimate doer-upper” by selling agent Bell Ingram.

The four-floor building, built in 1870, has six bedrooms, five bathrooms and tremendous views.

Bell Ingram said the property is a “real bargain”.
