EuroMillions winner scoops £180m jackpot

A lucky EuroMillions player has scooped £180 million.

The member of the public won the massive sum on February 26 after the prize pot rolled over five times, the Daily Star reports.

Claiming the £180m sum will catapult the anonymous winner from Switzerland ahead of many celebrities.

According to the Sunday Times Rich List, they now have £10 million more than Northern Irish golf pro Rory McIlroy and legendary singer Tom Jones, The Sun reports.

There were other winners, too.

Another 12 people from across Europe had enough winning numbers to claim £1,927,121.30 for themselves and 35 others were also in the money, collecting £9,034.80 each.

The rollover had taken Euromillions to the top level of money it can hand out on Friday as it met the €210 million cap, which works out as around £180 million.

The winning numbers were 6, 12, 22, 29, 33 and the lucky stars were 6 and 11.

Britain's biggest lottery win remains £170m, claimed by an anonymous punter in 2019.

EuroMillion tickets cost £2.50 and the draw is made every Tuesday and Friday, with each ticket costing £2.50.

Entrants in Britain are also automatically entered into the UK Millionaire Maker, which guarantees at least one player will win £1 million in every draw.

The National Lottery is encouraging people to buy their tickets online or on the National Lottery app in order to avoid heading out to the shops.
