The £169million Euromillions jackpot has been won tonight and the winning ticket was purchased in the UK - making a lucky punter the biggest ever lottery winner in the country.
Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said: "One incredibly lucky ticket-holder has scooped tonight’s enormous £170M EuroMillions jackpot. They are now the UK’s biggest ever winner. Players all across the country are urged to check their tickets as soon as possible."
It comes after the jackpot hit its cap for only the fourth time in history and makes the lucky ticket holder one of the biggest EuroMillions winners of all time.
There were more than 4.8 million prizes up for grabs.
Euromillions.com said in a statement: "A EuroMillions player in the UK has pocketed £169 million after matching all the winning numbers on Tuesday 8th October.
"There was only one ticket from all nine participating countries that matched the full winning line to snag the jackpot.
"It was quickly announced that the winning entry was sold in the UK, and the wait will now begin for the player to come forward and claim their money. They will also have to decide whether to go public or stay anonymous.
"The UK has now had 79 jackpot winners since EuroMillions launched in 2004, and the latest success is one of the largest in the country's history."
This is the largest ever lottery win in the UK, beating the previous record of £161million, which was won by Colin and Christine Weir in 2011.
Also tonight, a Dublin punter has won €500,000 on the EuroMillions Plus Draw.

The Irish Mirror reported: “A lucky punter in Ireland is €500,000 richer after scooping to the top prize in Tuesday’s EuroMillions Plus draw.
“The winning ticket was sold in Dublin. Over 203,000 people in Ireland won prizes.
“Meanwhile, a Lotto player in the UK has just won the record-equalling €190million jackpot.”
“Every EuroMillions ticket sold helps contribute to the more than £30M raised every week for Good Causes by The National Lottery - funding everything from local community projects to supporting the nation’s athletes.”
Tonight's winning numbers were 7, 10, 15, 44, 49 and the lucky stars were 3 and 12.
Tonight's huge prize had to be won as it is now the 22nd time the jackpot had rolled over, reaching the Euromillions cap for winning funds.
A flurry of desperate ticket buying saw the Lottery website crash earlier this evening as punters flooded the page.
The jackpot will now reset to £15 million for the next draw on Tuesday, giving players another chance to win big.
