A very lucky Dubliner is a cool €50million richer today after they came forward to claim their monster EuroMillions jackpot.
The extremely jammy punter will have his or her own version of 'new normal' to get used to after becoming a multi-millionaire in the blink of an eye once they get their hands on the eye-watering cheque.
The National Lottery this evening confirmed that the winner of Tuesday night’s €49,564,587 EuroMillions jackpot has come forward to claim their prize.
The lucky online player who is registered in Dublin became Ireland’s 19th National Lottery millionaire of 2020 thanks to a €2.50 Normal Play ticket which they bought ahead of Tuesday night’s draw.
The 'normal play' ticket means that the lucky player selected their own winning numbers to scoop this win of a lifetime.
A spokesperson for the National Lottery said that the ticket holder contacted Lotto HQ and will now be carefully guided through the prize claims process before officially claiming their life-changing prize of over €49.5 million.
The spokesperson said: “We were absolutely delighted to hear from Ireland’s latest EuroMillions jackpot winner who now becomes the 16th EuroMillions jackpot winner in Ireland since the game was introduced in 2004. We are now making arrangements for the winner or winners to make their claim in the coming weeks.”
This is the second EuroMillions jackpot win in Ireland this year and is the 16th time the jackpot has been won in Ireland since the EuroMillions game began in 2004.
Last year, a family syndicate from the Naul in north county Dublin scooped a staggering €175million.
