Euromillions heartache for Clydebank man as he misses out on huge £157m win by one number

An unlucky man from Clydebank has missed out on a massive £157 Euromillions win by just one number.

Aidan Murray went viral after posting a picture of his lottery ticket win on Twitter.

The post showed he almost had the exact matching numbers for Tuesday's £157,644,778 jackpot, but had agonisingly missed out on the grand prize.

His ticket had 05,09,15,25,29, with lucky stars 06 and 07 but the winning numbers came in at 05,09,25,29,30, with lucky stars 06 and 07.

That meant that had Aidan landed a 30 instead of his 15, he would have been an instant multimillionaire.

It wasn't all bad news as he still walked away with a £666.50 win.

Revealing his results on social media Aidan said: "One number away from 156 million hahahaha and only won 666 quid."

The tweet went viral attracting more than 32k likes and counting since being posted on Thursday.

Hundreds of users were quick to send send their sympathies to the Scot after his near miss.

One person said: "I won nothing, 666 quid is better than zero but you're still a winner."

A second person said: "Money doesn't make you happy anyway you got a lucky escape."

A third person said: "Mate am sick just reading that unlucky."

A fourth person said: "A feel f***** sick for ye man."
