One lucky ticket holder in the UK has started 2021 with a bang after scooping the £39.7million EuroMillions jackpot on New Year's Day.
Camelot UK Lotteries Limited, operator of The National Lottery, has today confirmed that a claim has been submitted a whopping £39,774,466.40.
The winner has beaten the odds of one in 139,838,160 to scoop the jackpot on the first day of 2021.
Once the ticket has been validated and paid, the ticket-holder will decide whether or not to go public and share their news.
If not all details will remain anonymous including whether it's a single winner or a syndicate, and where the lucky ticket was bought.
Camelot’s Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said: "What a start to 2021 for EuroMillions players.
"Not only did the giant jackpot get won in the UK, but a further ten lucky players banked £1m in the Millionaire Maker event. In all, over 900,000 UK players won a prize in the New Year’s Day draw.
"It is fantastic news that the jackpot winning lucky ticket-holder has now claimed this enormous prize. We will now focus on supporting the ticket-holder through the process."
The numbers are 32, 16, 48, 44, 28 an the Lucky Stars are 01 and 09.
The UK's biggest winners of all time were Colin Weir and his wife Christine, who won the huge Euromillions £161million jackpot back in 2011.
They became Scotland's biggest ever Lotto winners and the former cameraman was quick to splash the cash.
He forked out for cars, jewellery and property and pumped money into his favourite football club, Partick Thistle, as well as donating massive amounts to good causes.
He also shared his fortune with friends and charitable trusts, and passed on money to his two children with Christine – Carly, 32, and Jamie, 30.
Tragically Colin, who split from his wife of 38 years last summer, died from sepsis late last year.
By that time his fortune had shrunk by £40 million.
