Two new coronavirus cases on the NSW far south coast have broken the region's six-day COVID-19 free streak.

Both cases have been recorded in the Eurobodalla.

One new case is in Surf Beach and the other is in Nelligen and both are under investigation.

The last recorded case in the region was in Surfside, reported a week ago on Sunday, October 17.

These latest infections are the only active cases currently under virtual care from the Southern NSW Local Health District in the Eurobodalla.

Meanwhile, eight cases are still under virtual care in the Snowy Monaro and two in the Bega Valley.

Testing site changes

The Southern Local Health District is winding down COVID-19 testing operations to meet the region's current demand.

Testing rates have been declining in recent weeks, in line with the lower risk of COVID-19 in the community.

The COVID-19 testing clinic at Pambula Hospital will close from Monday, October 25  while the clinic at South East Regional Hospital has now closed.

"This will allow for our healthcare workers to focus on hospital and community-based care," a spokesperson for the health district said.

"However, any urgently required COVID-19 testing is available at the [South East] Hospital by appointment only."

Testing will continue at the Old Bega Racecourse.

The drive-through clinic will operate between 8am and 2pm on weekdays, and 9am and 2pm on the weekends.

"This location allows for better traffic flow," a spokesperson said.

"As well as easier access for both the community awaiting testing and staff running the clinic."

The health district said it was still important for community members to be alert for any symptoms that could signal COVID-19.

"If symptoms appear, people must isolate and get tested immediately, and remain isolated until a negative result is received."

Daily testing is also still taking place at the Moruya Hospital, Batemans Bay Hanging Rock drive-through clinic, JJ Conners Oval at Jindabyne and at the Cooma Showground.
