Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill told Viaplay: “We are a little bit young in certain areas but we have everything to gain from tonight’s game. There is a little bit of unknown about our team [Price and Hume getting their first starts] but they have shown up really well. I am excited to see what we get tonight. We have to make the game difficult for them, we have to create a bit of anxiety in their team. We also have to go and play. “
David Brooks is gearing up for his first Wales appearance since being diagnosed with cancer. But he has made it clear he doesn’t want to be handed anything for sympathy. “Even before talks had kicked [on his new Bournemouth contract] in I wanted to make it clear I wasn’t there for sympathy,” he says. “It’s the same with Wales. I don’t just want to be called up to be a spare part. I’m working hard to get back in the Bournemouth XI and to be starting for Wales as well. I don’t want anyone thinking we’ll give him a game here, or a game there, because he’s been through a lot and it will mean a lot to him.
