Today is the day many of us thought we would never see.
At 8pm on Sunday, July 11, England face Italy in their first major men's tournament final since their victory against West Germany 55 years ago.
Those fortunate enough to have witnessed English football's greatest ever triumph may not have thought they would ever be here again.
But through the lows of penalty shoot-out defeats, embarrassing group stage exits and, in some instances, failing to qualify for tournaments, England find themselves one game away from glory.
Now the nation waits in anticipation and hope that Gareth Southgate’s special group of players can go one step further and truly bring football home.
With the nation already proud of the team’s successes this summer, one more win should send the country into raptures.
Many people will be in the pubs, chanting “three lions on the shirt” in unison with friends.
Some may be sitting at home in front of the television watching with their family.
