Euro 2020 cops arrest 18 people in London after Tartan Army supporters clash with England fans

Police have arrested 18 people during the Euro 2020 clash between Scotland and England in London.

Officers were forced to separate warring fans in Leicester Square at around 9pm on Friday after violence erupted.

Scotland and England fans were forced apart by a solid line of uniformed officers who escorted each group away from each other.

Members of the public were warned to avoid the area unless absolutely necessary while police dealt with the chaotic scenes.

Thousands of Scotland fans had been partying in the street throughout the day ahead of the 8pm kick off at Wembley Stadium.

The Metropolitan Police have now confirmed that more than a dozen football fans have been arrested by officers.

A statement from the force said: “As of 10:30pm, 18 people had been arrested as part of our policing operation during the England v Scotland game.

“The majority of these were in central London and in the vicinity of Wembley Stadium. “

Officers continue to engage with crowds.”
