Euro 2020 Betting: Chelsea stars in the running to join elite list of players to do Champions League and Euro double

At least one Chelsea player looks set to join an elite list of footballers that have won a European Cup and European Championship in the same year.

Only nine players have managed this rare double but that number is now highly likely to grow because Chelsea are represented among all four remaining nations in Euro 2020. To qualify as 'double winners', players must have appeared in both winning finals.

Mason Mount looks the most likely of Chelsea's trio of England stars to start the Euro 2020 final, should Gareth Southgate's side overcome Denmark in their semi-final, with Ben Chilwell and Reece James likely to have to settle for a place on the bench. Mount, who returned to the England starting eleven against Ukraine, is likely to play a major role for Gareth Southgate in the remainder of the tournament as England look to justify favouritism in Euro 2020 betting lists.

Mount will come up against Chelsea teammate and Denmark centre-half Andreas Christensen at Wembley on Wednesday night. Christensen, who came off the Chelsea bench in the Champions League final, has started every one of Denmark’s Euro 2020 games so far and bagged just his second goal for his country in the 4-1 thrashing of Russia.

Jorginho has been a mainstay of the Italian side in recent times, clocking up more playing minutes than any other Italian since Roberto Mancini took over in 2018.

An injury to Leonardo Spinazzola against Belgium means that Emerson could also get the call-up to start for Italy against Spain on Tuesday night.

Jorginho and Emerson will come up against their Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta at Wembley. ‘Dave’, as he is affectionately known at Stamford Bridge, scored his first senior international goal in Spain’s last-16 defeat of Croatia.

European Cup-EURO double winners

1964: Luis Suárez (Internazionale Milano & Spain)

1988: Hans van Breukelen, Ronald Koeman, Berry van Aerle, Gerald Vanenburg (PSV Eindhoven & Netherlands)

2012: Fernando Torres, Juan Mata (Chelsea & Spain)

2016: Cristiano Ronaldo, Pepe (Real Madrid & Portugal)

No one has done the Euros or World Cup double with the Europa League or UEFA Cup since 1996 but Villarreal pair Pau Torres and Gerard Moreno are both in the running to end that drought.
