Follow the tournament

This is the first 16-team women’s European Championship, Uefa having expanded the tournament by four since the last one, in Sweden 2013. This means that we have four debutants at this stage this summer: Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Scotland and Portugal.

The tournament takes place in the Netherlands between 16 July and 6 August with the final in Enschede. The 16 teams have been divided into four groups with the top two from each section to progress to the knockout stage. The games will be played in seven stadiums. England are among the favourites to win the tournament but to do so they would have to overcome a Germany side that have won the past six European Championships.
