Adidas has unveiled the official match ball for the finals of Euro 2016 in France next summer.
The “Beau Jeu”, which translates as “Beautiful Game”, was revealed by the former France captain Zinedine Zidane, who won the European Championship with France in 2000. He said: “I am proud to unveil ‘Beau Jeu’, the official match for Euro 2016 from adidas football.’
A press release accompanying the ball’s release read: “In development for over 18 months, adidas has taken the best elements of the much-loved, and most-tested, Brazuca FIFA World Cup Official Match Ball, and added a French touch of class in time for the Euros.”
The ball is considered to offer “improved grip and enhanced in-flight visibility respectively”.
Teams that have qualified for the finals will be allowed to use the ball in international matches from the end of November to allow them to familiarise themselves with the new ball.
