Euphoria fans are rallying behind Nika King after the actress, who plays Rue’s mum, reacted to her extremely brief reappearance in the HBO show’s latest episode.
King’s character, Leslie Bennett, had been totally absent from the current third instalment of Euphoria after a five-year time-jump between the events of seasons two and three.
Thankfully for fans of her character, King did return in the latest episode, titled “Stand Still and See”, but only via a phone call scene with Zendaya’s Rue where she appears in a brief cut to say the line: “I love you, Rue”.
a cena emocional que tava faltando até agora nessa temporada. a rue sentada na igreja conversando com a mãe, pedindo desculpa por tudo e a leslie aparecendo só para falar que ama ela… a família bennett SEMPRE vai ser a alma de euphoria

King quickly took to social media to “laugh at” just how short her cameo was, saying in an Instagram video that she had “just watched the episode that I’ve been promoting all week”.
The actress said her mum was “clowning me” over the scene and laughed about how “she said the internet waited all this time for me to just say one line”.
King’s mum, who could be heard in the background, chimed in with a mention of the years-long gap between Euphoria’s second and third seasons, saying everyone waited “three years” just for her to reappear only briefly in the new episode.
“I can’t do nothing but laugh at this. When your mama clown you,” King said in the clip. “You better be glad I have a sense of humour. You better be glad I’ve got thick skin.”

Though King appeared to take the situation in her stride, a bunch of fans took to social media to lament Leslie’s miniscule screen time, with one saying that Euphoria “did her dirty”.
“Imagine carrying the whole emotional weight of a family on a TV show for years just to respawn for one sentence,” another X user wrote, while a third said they hoped Leslie “gets a bigger moment next time”.
Others took issue with Euphoria choosing to promote Leslie’s reappearance in episode teasers, only to deliver a short-lived moment. “Promoting an episode all week just to drop one line is actually crazy,” one X user quipped.
It’s not the first time King has mentioned her dwindling Euphoria role, saying during a 2024 stand-up set that she “need[ed]season three” because she hadn’t “paid my rent in six months”.
Leslie returned during an already action-packed season of Euphoria, which has drawn controversy for its portrayal of sex workers, featured a cameo from Trisha Paytas, and sparked off-screen rumours of feuds among the cast.
Euphoria’s series finale airs in Australia on May 31.
