Euphoria season 3 trailer gives first look at Eric Dane’s final performance

Euphoria has released a new trailer for its highly anticipated third season, offering a glimpse at Eric Dane’s final performance before his death aged 53.

The Grey’s Anatomy alum died in February, nearly a year after he announced he had been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a neurodegenerative disease. Shortly after he went public with his diagnosis in April 2025, he reprised his role as Cal Jacobs, the closeted father of Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi), in the Emmy-winning HBO Max drama.

In the teaser released Monday, Cal reunites with Jules (Hunter Schafer), the former high schooler he had a one-night stand with in season one.

“Remember me?” Jules asks as she approaches Cal, standing at a bar. “How could I forget?” he replies.

According to IMDb, Dane appears in all eight episodes of the forthcoming season.

The trailer also shows Rue (Zendaya) in a police interrogation room being questioned about a trip to Mexico, Nate and Cassie’s (Sydney Sweeney) wedding, Lexi (Maude Apatow) working as a Hollywood screenwriter, and Jules working as a model.

“In the beginning, we had to make a choice about who we were and what we wanted,” Rue says in a voice-over. “But what we didn’t realize was how far we were willing to go.”

Season three of Euphoria comes three years after its second season. Creator Sam Levinson has previously confirmed that the new season will feature a significant time jump, set five years after the characters have graduated from high school.

Following season two’s finale in 2022, Dane expressed his love for the show, telling Variety: “There aren’t words to describe how much I love the show.”

“These kids — I’m calling them kids, can you believe that?” he added. “These young adults are so talented. It blows me away every time I watch their work.”

The third season was originally expected to begin production in 2023, but faced major delays due to the Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strikes; the tragic death of 25-year-old Angus Cloud, who starred in seasons one and two as local drug dealer Fez; and scheduling conflicts with the show’s cast, many of whom have since gone on to become major stars.

In an interview with Elle in August 2024, Levinson described season three as a “film noir,” adding that Zendaya’s character would “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world.”

Season three of Euphoria premieres Sunday, April 12, on HBO Max, with new episodes releasing weekly until the season finale on May 31.
