Eubank vs Benn 2 live: Fight time as rivals prepare for huge rematch

A new dimension was added to the rivalry between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn on Thursday, as the rivals’ fathers reignited their own feud at the final press conference for their sons’ rematch.

On Saturday, Eubank Jr and Benn will return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where the former outpointed his fellow Briton in a thrilling bout in April – more than 30 years after Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn rounded out their own rivalry.

Eubank Sr made a surprise, last-moment appearance in April, having criticised the weight disparity between his son and Conor Benn in the build-up. And on Thursday, Eubank Sr was involved in a pre-fight event for the first time during this rivalry, attending the final press conference for Saturday’s rematch.

Conor Benn, 29, will again move up to middleweight to face Eubank Jr, 36, but they weren’t the only ones trading barbs on Thursday; Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn also got into a verbal back-and-forth.

Re-live updates from the final press conference, below:

Conor Benn: “I think once you learn about Chris, you learn to understand that he’s just the way he is.”

But Benn pays more respect to Eubank Jr: “I take my hat off to you.”

“You keep your hat on,” Eubank Jr retorts.

Conor Benn: “He was in hospital for three days; I was back in the gym on Sunday. I believe he inflicted more pain.”

Benn also gives Eubank Jr props for his “spirit”, however.

Eubank Jr: “Who won the fight, Conor? If you ‘take a man’s soul’, that usually means you won the fight.”

Thursday 13 November 2025 19:56 , Alex Pattle

Eubank Jr: “I’m not here to talk about my feelings or my emotions. I’m here to talk about things that are bothering me, as I always do at these press conferences.”

Jr claims that his head of security has been banned from attending tonight.

Hearn holds up a sign that says “bull****”.

Eubank Jr vs Benn 2: Nigel speaks

Thursday 13 November 2025 19:53 , Alex Pattle

Nigel Benn: “I’m not really paying attention to what [Sr] says, it’s just going over my head. We’re here to talk about a fight, my son fighting. Nothing else. Not about what [Sr has] done or ain’t done.”

“I just think you two should face off,” Conor jokes.

“Do not spread lies about me,” says Sr.

“I don’t mind having a face-off!” Nigel replies.

Sr smiles.

Eubank Jr vs Benn 2: Chris Sr speaks

Thursday 13 November 2025 19:51 , Alex Pattle

Eubank Sr: “I’m here to support again. He’s doing the weight, so I’m here to support – just in case there are those who want to bark or scold him. I guess I’m here to actually protect him.

“If a father takes money, nothing wrong with that. But if there’s a father who doesn’t take money – none – then that is to be studied. Study that. You can’t pay me anything; I’m here for heart. Remember what I’ve lived by my whole career. I’ve lived and behaved with patience, kindness, I’m not proud, I’m not rude – I’m not easily angered, Nigel, and I keep no record of wrongs.”

Conor is laughing, looking at Nigel, who is biting his tongue.

“Whoever told Nigel I was paid whatever sum of money, they lied to you. And you actually spouting what they’ve told you makes you a liar. So expose that lie, in order to actually clear your name. Otherwise, who in future is going to believe you?”

Benn’s coach, Tony Sims: “I don’t know how much skillset was in that [first] fight, but it was – as they say – a fight of the year contender.

“Conor’s worked very hard to make them adjustments; I don’t think we’ve seen the finest of Conor Benn yet. I believe he’s got a high IQ, and I believe on Saturday night we’ll see that.”

Eubank Jr’s coach, Brian McIntyre: “I just believe in Chris’s skill and the will that he has. He’s got that killer instinct. Once you’ve got a fighter like that, it’s easy to work with.”

Eubank Jr vs Benn 2: Main-event press conference

Thursday 13 November 2025 19:45 , Alex Pattle

Conor Benn: “We’re both at different stages of our career. For us to be sitting here, it’s legacy and it’s generational. I didn’t choose this life, it sort of just fell into place.

“Very, very [happy to see Sr]. It’s good to have him here. We are where we are because of our dads.”

Eubank Jr vs Benn 2: Main-event press conference

Thursday 13 November 2025 19:44 , Alex Pattle

Eubank Jr: “I had no idea that I would be sitting in front of you guys today with this man by my side. I found out a couple of hours ago, so I’m just as shocked as you guys are. I have no idea what he’s gonna say.

“First and foremost: Eddie Hearn, Conor Benn, Nigel Benn – over the last few months – have been making accusations and claims that my father was paid to come to the fight in April.

“Just bare-faced lies. Anyone with a brain knows that that’s just not true, but I still have to address it, because it’s very disrespectful.”

“Silent Night” plays, and Eddie Hearn uses cue cards to communicate with the audience, as Eubank Jr speaks – kind of as he spoke over Hearn earlier this year...

“As long as he’s not speaking, that’s fine,” Eubank Jr jibes. Sr is laughing.

“This is embarrassing, guys,” Eubank Jr says. “This is supposed to be the best promoter in the world, and he’s up here with clipboards, smiling like an idiot because he’s too scared to speak at a press conference.”

Ben Shalom, who promotes Eubank Jr: “This is a generational fight with generational stakes for Chris Eubank Jr.

“This is the moment, I believe, he really cements himself as a true great of British boxing.

“We know the fights beyond this, we know the names beyond this, but it only happens with a statement performance on Saturday night.”

All the talking is done, just the face-offs to come now.

Eubank Jr vs Benn 2: Jack Catterall faces Ekow Essuman in crucial clash

Thursday 13 November 2025 19:03 , Alex Pattle

Catterall: “I’ve made many sacrifices, so I’m ready to do a job on Saturday night. I’m gonna meet him in the middle of the ring and show him what’s up.”

Essuman: “Awkward competitor, tricky customer. [But] come Saturday, you’re gonna see a world-class performance, a statement performance.”

Hearn: “A world-title shot, simply, [is at stake for the winner]. The styles are gonna clash perfectly. Ekow loves to fight, loves to come forward, and Jack is gonna produce what I believe will be a career-best performance.”

Ahead of this one, Catterall has made the switch to train under the father of Jaron “Boots” Ennis.

Scoby, who is stepping in for Zaur Abdullaev, snipes at Azim over and over.

Azim: “Someone is just chatting s*** over there, I can’t hear. He’s kinda small, stocky guy? You’re like a little kid at school who comes with his backpack.”

Scoby: “I’m gonna take your lunch! You don’t sound confident, son.”

Azim: “Take those glasses off and look at me. Sit back down.”

These two have had some backstage altercations this week.

Riakporhe: “The journey’s been a long journey – to be on this stage, competing on these big shows. We wanna get one world title at heavyweight, so we’re just working now towards that.

“Everybody has their own opinion, it doesn’t mean nothing to me,” he adds, of Welch’s claim that Riakporhe may not be wise in moving up to heavyweight at the age of 35.

Welch: “Again, I think he’s moved up at the wrong time. He failed at cruiserweight, he went missing for a little while by all accounts, and he’s trying to reinvent himself.

“This is a nice opening for me. This isn’t Richard’s downfall on Saturday; this is my arrival. I’m probably the only one who hasn’t feared him. I’ve been calling him out.

“Saturday night, the ‘Midnight Train’ is taking the last bus home,” Welch jibes.

Welch is cheered on by heavyweight veteran Derek Chisora, who is sat in the front row.

It’s starting to get a bit heated now! Some verbal jabs back and forth.

Side note: Welch’s father Scott is a former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion.

Davis: “It’s time to get the British title and the Commonwealth title. I’ve heard him say he’s wanted to win the British title since [he was] a kid; I hope he does win it, but it won’t be Saturday night.”

He backs his man Azim as a “generational talent”, ahead of the Slough fighter’s clash with Scoby on short notice.

Shalom also works with Riakporhe, who is still early in new heavyweight phase of his career as a former cruiserweight.

Interview | Hearn gives specific prediction on how Benn beats Eubank Jr

Thursday 13 November 2025 17:45 , Alex Pattle

Indy Sport and other publications chatted to Benn’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, earlier this week.

Here’s what he had to say about how Saturday’s main event could play out...

“[Eubank Jr] is a tough, tough man. I mean, I’ll give him his credit. He’s stubborn, and actually that stubbornness is what makes him what he is in the ring.

“He’s not all of a sudden gonna jack it in; if someone pulls him out of this fight on Saturday, it ain’t gonna be him! But I know that after the last fight, the reaction of the team... I think it was like: ‘We don’t need to do this anymore.’

“And that’s why, when it gets deep on Saturday, that’s when that circle [possibly] starts saying: ‘Let’s pull him out.’ There may be a conversation like that during the fight.

Benn admits he was a ‘broken man’ as he reveals secret behind his transformation

Thursday 13 November 2025 17:38 , Alex Pattle

Conor Benn cut a composed figure at Wednesday’s open workout, inviting his father, Nigel, into the ring, as he revealed therapy has transformed his mindset ahead of his rematch with Chris Eubank Jr.

He admitted to harbouring “a lot of hatred, a lot of bitterness” before their initial bout, fuelled by scrutiny over a failed drug test in 2022 that derailed the original encounter.

This animosity, he explained, “spilled over” into their Tottenham Hotspur Stadium bout, a “classic encounter” ultimately won by Eubank Jr via unanimous decision. While Benn seeks redemption on Saturday, he appears at peace with recent events.

When asked about the source of his newfound tranquility, Benn candidly stated: “Therapy. A lot of therapy. A lot of help. I was a broken man, I was a broken working man, but my job, my priority, was to get back in the ring because that is the place where I found peace. It was just hard. It was hard mentally.”

Eubank Jr makes major family announcement before Benn rematch

Thursday 13 November 2025 17:26 , Alex Pattle

Have you heard the news?

Third-generation showdown loading...?

Chris Eubank Jr makes major family announcement before second Conor Benn fight

Interview | Benn: ‘If you win a boring fight, did you really even win?’

Thursday 13 November 2025 17:14 , Alex Pattle

“There wasn’t much thinking,” Conor Benn admits, mentally transporting himself back to 26 April, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and an 18ft x 18ft ring. “It was just pure rage. I just wanted to flatten him.” Benn is, of course, referring to Chris Eubank Jr, a man who was born to be Benn’s rival.

One could convincingly argue so, anyway. Given Nigel Benn and Eubank Sr’s gripping grudge in the 1990s, their sons’ own rivalry really is a blood feud. A blood feud that ultimately birthed a bloody, draining fight, as Eubank Jr continued his family’s superiority over the Benns by edging past Conor. It was an exhibition of true sporting melodrama, following slaps with eggs, weigh-in scares, and Eubank Sr’s last-gasp arrival. Yet, for Benn, it could have been so different on that spring evening in the English capital.

“It came so close, to where it was like: ‘I just need one more punch,’” he tells The Independent in the Matchroom gym in Essex, reflecting on moments when Eubank Jr looked in serious danger of humiliation. “He just used his experience well in there. I didn’t give him enough credit, but he deserves it for his chin, resilience, heart, engine. To deliver that sort of fight for the public, there’s only one man who could have brought that out of me: his name’s Chris.”

Interview | Eubank Jr: ‘People try to strip us of our health – we get used and betrayed’

Thursday 13 November 2025 16:59 , Alex Pattle

Chris Eubank Jr drums his fingers against his plastic water bottle, staring past it and at the floor. After a long silence, filled with thought, he says: “I don’t think I’m gonna answer that one.”

Eubank Jr does not share his rival’s mistrust of the media, but on the cusp of his highly-anticipated rematch with Conor Benn, the 36-year-old is picking and choosing what to share when it comes to his stirring revelation this week: that he will be a father to twin boys. As Eubank Jr and Benn once again prepare to emulate their dads – Chris Sr and Nigel – with a rematch to mirror their fathers’ 30 years ago, it’s insisted there will be no third-generation showdown.

Sitting upstairs in Canary Wharf’s glassy Pelligon building, four days out from Saturday’s rematch, Eubank Jr looks almost unrecognisable from two versions of himself in April: the skeletal figure trying to make weight, and the swollen, hospitalised one after a blood-spattered thriller in Tottenham. Today, his eyes look only slightly sunken, the shape of his skull just subtly pronounced.

Steve Bunce: Why Benn may have crucial edge in rare rematch

Thursday 13 November 2025 16:41 , Alex Pattle

The day after the first fight, the fathers each had a critical role to play.

Chris was bedside with his son and never left him until he was released. Nigel met with Conor, and they found a second away from any other ears. “You lost, now you have to go and put it right,” said Nigel.

That sets up Saturday nicely. The winner will be the smarter fighter. And possibly the fresher. Benn might just have that edge.

Eubank vs Benn 2 press conference live: Welcome!

Thursday 13 November 2025 14:59 , Alex Pattle

Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn will share a stage today as they engage in a final war of words before Saturday’s much-anticipated rematch.

This weekend, Benn seeks revenge against his bitter rival at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where Eubank Jr won a thrilling fight on points in April. That bout marked a continuation of their fathers’ rivalry from the 1990s, and at the 11th hour Eubank Sr arrived to support his son, while Benn’s dad Nigel was in his corner.

The first fight also followed chaos at the launch press conference, where Eubank Jr, 36, slapped Benn, 29, in the face with an egg – a reference to the WBC’s suggestion that Benn’s adverse drug-test results in 2022 might have been caused by excessive consumption of eggs.

Those test results saw the British grudge match delayed from 2022 until this spring, and the action delivered after so much waiting, with Eubank Jr and Benn producing one of the fights of the year. Now, they go at it again, with Benn aiming to avenge the first loss of his professional career.
