The EU Digital Green Cert finally went live on Tuesday with Germany and Greece among the countries already using it.
With the vaccine rollout picking up huge pace across Europe plans are now in place to bring back travel within the EU.
In order to facilitate that, the EU has put together Digital Green Certs which will be used to allow free travel within the bloc.
Now the certs have officially gone live in seven EU countries in what marks another step towards the return to normality.
Here's what Irish people need to know:
What does it do?
The Green Cert provides proof that a person has been vaccinated against Covid-19, has tested negative for the virus, or has recovered from an infection.
How much does it cost to use?
The digital cert is 100% free to use.
What countries currently have the Green Cert in place.
Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Greece, and Poland have all launched the Green Cert from today.
These countries have been able to launch today following successful tests by 22 countries since May 10.
When will it become available in Ireland

The Green Cert will become available in all Member States from July 1.
The EU Commission stated: “We urge EU countries to get fully ready, so the system will be fully up and running on 1 July”.
While the Green Cert will likely go live in Ireland from early July non-essential international travel will not return until July 19.
How can I get a Green Cert?
Citizens will receive the certificate either automatically or upon request once they have received a vaccine “irrespective of the number of doses” in an EU country.
Those that were vaccinated in a non-EU country can request the certificate from the Member State of their nationality or residence; this will be issued if there is a reliable proof of vaccination.
