Ethnicity Awards 2019: The firms, community figures and celebrities in line for top accolades

Inspirational big brands, businesses, community figures and celebrities have been shortlisted for the annual Ethnicity Awards.

The awards, together with official partner HSBC UK, have revealed the 160-strong list ahead of the annual ceremony in London later this month.

It includes big brands and businesses with a track record of enhancing the representation of ethnic minorities at senior levels in the workplace, as well as celebrities including Stormzy, Tinie Tempah and Rochelle Humes.

The annual event celebrates people in the public eye, charitable organisations and companies.

The National Grid, KPMG, Lloyds Bank, RBS and Viacom International Media Networks are among the top businesses shortlisted for the Outstanding Employer Award.  ASOS, Huggies, L’Oreal, Netflix and Nike are some of those competing for the Brand of the Year accolade.

Umar Kamani from fashion brand Pretty LittleThing.com  and Seema Malhotra from Forever Unique are nominated in the Entrepreneur category.

Founder of the Ethnicity Awards, Sarah Garrett MBE, said: “The Ethnicity Awards aim to promote the achievements of ethnic minorities and strive to improve lack of BAME representation in the workplace and throughout wider society.

“It’s great to see so many businesses make the shortlist. The awards will be a great opportunity to raise awareness and shine a light on those doing great things for ethnic minority groups.”

Ian Stuart, CEO of HSBC UK, said: "HSBC UK is delighted to be lead sponsor of the Investing in Ethnicity Awards again in 2019.

"Diversity and inclusion is vitality important to our business and these awards highlight the incredible work being done to ensure that all people are afforded equal opportunity, regardless of race or ethnicity.

"The calibre of nominations has been outstanding again this year, good luck to all those shortlisted.”

The ceremony will take place on October 25 at Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
