A huge search was launched shortly before midday today after an empty pram was thrown from a stolen car into a river.
Search and rescue experts were scouring the River Etherow at Etherow Country Park in Stockport this afternoon after concerns were raised with police.
Specialist firefighters searched the river, close to a weir in the country park, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Police, ambulances and at least one helicopter were reported to be at the scene.
But shortly before 3pm the search was stood down.
Eve Dugdale was walking in the country park with family and friends when the emergency services arrived at the scene.

She said: “We’d just walked past the waterfall when three fire engines, an ambulance and the helicopter turned up.
“We saw a pram in the water at the waterfall with all the baby paraphernalia in the water.
“It was a grey and black buggy near the bottom and it looked like a blanket, a changing mat and other stuff were at different stages above above it."

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 11.38am today, a walker reported to police the discovery of some property near to Etherow Country Park in Stockport.
"Emergency services attended and as a precaution the fire service searched the river.
"At this stage, officers believe that the property was deposited from a passing vehicle, which police to believe to be stolen.
"Officers do not believe anyone is in danger or has come to harm."
Matt Cooke lives close to Etherow Country Park.
He said: “I was jogging through the park. As I left the police let me across the bridge at the weir.
“I saw them take a pram and a baby’s car seat out of the water.
“There was a diver in the weir passing it up.
“The fire brigade are still on the bridge. They’ve set up a whiteboard and they seem to be planning stuff on it.
“The air ambulance left a few minutes ago, but the police helicopter has turned up now. It’s hovering now.
“There’s two fire engines, three fire response vehicles, five ambulances and loads more vehicles in the car park.
“The police have cordoned it off from Etherow woods near the weir to near the cafe by the main entrance. You can still get in the car park, but you can’t walk up the path into the park.”
