‘Ether coming soon’? 5 theories about LeBron James’ latest subtweet

One of the best things about LeBron James on social media — besides Taco Tuesdays, of course — is when the Los Angeles Lakers star subtweets.

It’s truly an art form, with James sending a message filled with clues about who or what it MIGHT be about, just enough to send fans into a tizzy.

His latest one did exactly that.

“Alright alright,” he wrote on Thursday. “Enough is enough. The throne has been played with to much and I ain’t for horseplay. Ether coming soon! #JamesGang”

Hmmmm. Ether? Who’s that ether going to be aimed at? We came up with a few theories.

1. David Griffin

The front-runner. In a Sports Illustrated feature published Thursday, the ex-Cavaliers GM who now has the same role with the Pelicans said of James, “I don’t think he’s the same animal anymore about winning.” He also talked about how the pressure to get James a ring overwhelmed him.

Per ESPN, “Sources close to James told ESPN on Thursday they were ‘shocked’ at Griffin’s characterization of the superstar. … Griffin and a person close to James spoke to each other after the SI story was published, sources told ESPN, and Griffin expressed that some context was missing behind his comments. James’ camp encouraged Griffin to clear up his stance on the record, sources said.”

2. Critics of his celebration at Bronny’s AAU game

The tweet comes days after FS1’s Jason Whitlock slammed James for his behavior while watching his son play in an AAU game. James had an army of defenders come out to support him, but maybe that’s what this tweet is about given that he tagged it #JamesGang, which he uses when posting about his family.

3. League execs who didn’t vote for him as “league’s best player”

A recent ESPN poll of 20 anonymous NBA execs revealed not one of them voted for James as the best in the game (for the record, Kawhi Leonard got 12 votes, Giannis Antetokounmpo got six and James Harden received two).

4. People who think the Clippers are better than the Lakers

Could that be the “throne” he’s talking about?

5. People who don’t like his Taco Tuesdays post

I don’t know. Who wouldn’t like those?
