Arsenal have confirmed that Ethan Nwaneri has signed a new long-term contract with the club.
Amid links with Chelsea, the youngster has ended speculation over his future by signing a five-year extension, tying himself to the club until 2030.
As reported by Standard Sport last month, Arsenal made tying down Nwaneri to a new contract one of their priorities going into this summer, along with renewals for Bukayo Saka, Gabriel, Myles Lewis-Skelly and William Saliba.
New deals were quickly sorted for Gabriel and Lewis-Skelly, and now Nwaneri has followed suit after an eye-catching breakthrough season, which saw him score nine goals in all competitions.
Ethan said: “Signing this contract means everything to me. I see this as my first real season in men’s senior football, as part of the squad in the changing room.
“I'm so excited for what I can bring to the team, I want to help us win as much as possible and bring happiness and glory to the club. This is where I feel at home.”
Nwaneri spent last season playing as a No8 and also off the right flank for a period, covering for Bukayo Saka when the winger injured his hamstring in December.
The teenager did well in both roles, but going forward, there appears to be a desire to define his long-term position in the team.
The new season will also see Nwaneri wear a new shirt number, having swapped No53 shirt for No22 shirt, which David Raya has vacated in favour of the No1 jersey.
