Ethan Laird has hit the headlines for his impressive performances during his loan spell with Swansea City, featuring in 13 of their 15 Championship matches already this season.
And he has already pinpointed his Manchester United hopes for the future, as he seeks to develop in South Wales.
The 20-year-old reunited with Russell Martin at Swansea, having been managed by him at MK Dons. The United loanee is a favourite of Martin's and the pair are clearly enjoying working together again.
After a slow start in the new chapter at the Liberty Stadium, Martin's side have now turned a corner and for Laird — who grabbed his second assist of the season in their 3-0 win over relegation-threatened Peterborough on Saturday — there have been demands from United fans for him to play a part in the Old Trafford first team.
They sit four points off the play-off places with a large part of the season remaining, as the Swans look to replicate the fortunes of Cooper's side last season that saw them narrowly miss out on promotion to the Premier League as Thomas Frank's Brenford overcame the Welsh side in the play-offs.
But the 20-year-old has previously emphasised his hopes for the loan spell in the second tier of English football, he explained to the official Swansea website : "I just want to get out there and experience it.
“I also love working with Russell and I just know he can get the best out of me. The big thing about him is trust. When I came in from United, he told me exactly how it was straight away.
“I just learnt so much in that short amount of time, it was unbelievable so I knew if I worked with him again, I could continue to improve and develop.
“I love the style of play. I think it is the best way to play football, it is entertaining, and it is how you want to see your team play, getting those passes in. That’s what I enjoy and that’s why I am here.”
The right-back made his debut for United in the Europa League and has made 18 appearances with the U23s scoring the single goal.
He spent last season on loan at the Stadium MK under Martin where he made 25 appearances, assisting four times following his January switch.
Nicky Butt and Kieran McKenna, United's assistant first-team coach, have been lauded as major influences by Laird. He continued: "A number of people have helped me, from coaches to players who have been fundamental.
“Nicky Butt has been a big one, he trusted me as a youngster to play with older players and teams.
“Kieran McKenna (assistant first-team coach) is now in the first team but he was great for me with the under-18s. There are so many I could mention, Clayton Blackmore is another, but this will be a long interview if I name everyone.”
