Ethan Galbraith ready to prove himself in 'men's football' after sealing loan move

Ethan Galbraith believes he is ready to step out of the shadows of underage football and prove himself in the men's game.

The Manchester United midfielder has secured a season-long loan move to Doncaster Rovers.

Galbraith has predominantly been featuring for United's Under 23s but was involved in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first-team during pre-season.

The Northern Ireland international is now targeting regular senior football in League One.

“I’m delighted to be here and finally have the deal over the line, I can’t wait to get started and show what I can do," Galbraith told Doncaster's website.

“My agent informed me that Doncaster were interested, I played with Richie’s son at United so this was the place I wanted to come.

“I’ve been playing in the U23s at United for the past two seasons, so I feel I’m past that stage now and ready for the challenge of men’s football.”

He added: “It will be a lot tougher than what I’m used to and people want to get about you, but I’m ready for it.

“I’m a player that likes to get on the ball and dictate play, and if I can get high up the pitch then I can add goals as well.”

Doncaster manager Richie Wellens believes Galbraith has all the talent to be a "real top player".

Wellens is confident Galbraith can "step up" after joining his squad.

“He’s a top footballer that has played U23s football for a lot of years now and he needs that opportunity to prove he can step up and do it in a men’s environment,” Wellens said.

“I think ability-wise he is right up there and he has every chance of being a real top player.

“At some stage he needs to take the plunge and show he can handle the physicality.

“I’ve watched him a lot over the years and I think over the last two or three months he looks like he is really physically developing his body into a man.

“He’s a top footballer and I think he’s a Doncaster Rovers-type player.

“He’s on his first journey into professional football and hopefully we can play a big part of his development and he can take his career on because I think he’s got the opportunity to be a top player.”
