Manchester United midfielder Ethan Galbraith has signed for Doncaster Rovers on a season-long loan.
The young Northern Ireland international has joined the League One outfit after impressing for the United Under-23's squad over the last two seasons, where he was a regular in central midfield.
Galbraith made an appearance for the United first-team during the 2019 Europa League campaign in the group stages against FC Astana, the same campaign in which he scored against Doncaster in the EFL Trophy. He has been capped twice by the Northern Irish international team.
Rovers manager Richie Wellens, who also came through the academy at Old Trafford, spoke about the deal and revealed his delight at getting a 'top footballer' to the club.
"I’m delighted, we’ve secured a top footballer. He’s played in the under 23s for a couple of years and needs the opportunity to play first-team football," he told the Rovers website.
"I think in terms of ability he has every chance of being a top player, I’m looking forward to seeing how he adapts to the physicality of this level.
"The opportunity came to get him in and when a player like Ethan becomes available we couldn’t miss out."
Galbraith will wear the number 22 shirt for the season and could go straight into the squad to take on Sheffield Wednesday in their League One fixture on Saturday afternoon. He will link up with another former academy midfielder in Aidan Barlow, who recently signed for Doncaster too.
