Ethan Erhahon commits to St Mirren as teenage prospect's new deal hands Jim Goodwin a huge boost

St Mirren midfielder Ethan Erhahon has signed a new contract until 2023.

The 19-year-old has already made 12 appearances for the Paisley side this season, scoring his first Premiership goal with a sweet strike from the edge of the box in a 2-1 defeat against Aberdeen last month.

And, after losing former academy graduate Kyle Magennis, St Mirren boss Jim Goodwin is delighted to get the talented teenager tied down.

He said: "Ethan is only 19 but has had a consistent run in the team in his favoured position.

"He is very mature in his playing style, he reads the game well, covers the ground and has a great range of passing.

“It’s important that we do everything we can to hold onto these young and talented players.”

Erhahon is again likely to be involved tomorrow as Saints target a place in the quarter finals of the Betfred Cup by beating a depleted Aberdeen squad in Paisley.

Dons boss Derek McInnes will again be be without Ross McCrorie, Lewis Ferguson and Conor McLennan, who continue to self isolate.

On top of that Scott Wright was ruled out for six weeks with a double hernia earlier with Marley Watkins and Dylan McGeouch also injured.
