Drive-Away Dolls, a new queer comedy film, takes audiences on a cross-country journey with lesbian friends carrying sensitive materials in their drive-away vehicle. Co-written by Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke, the movie offers a lighthearted and fun experience with a touch of outrageousness and wild sex scenes.

The concept for Drive-Away Dolls was initially drafted nearly 20 years ago, showcasing a queer caper that diverges from the Coen brothers' usual highbrow style. Tricia Cooke, who identifies as queer, highlighted the film's unique charm and humor that sets it apart from the Coen brothers' renowned works like Fargo and The Big Lebowski.

Cooke and Coen's unconventional relationship and marriage, characterized by their different partners while raising their children, add a personal touch to the film's narrative. Their collaboration on Drive-Away Dolls served as a bonding experience for the couple, who found common ground in creating this queer comedy.

The star-studded cast of Drive-Away Dolls includes Margaret Qualley, Geraldine Viswanathan, Beanie Feldstein, Colman Domingo, Matt Damon, Pedro Pascal, and a surprise cameo by Miley Cyrus. Directed by Ethan Coen, the film marks his first solo directorial effort since The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.

At the New York City premiere, Coen expressed gratitude for the evolving landscape of Hollywood, which now embraces queer comedies more openly than in the early 2000s when the script was first penned. Beanie Feldstein, one of the cast members, described working on the film as a dream come true, praising the collaborative spirit of Coen and Cooke.

Drive-Away Dolls offers a refreshing take on comedy, blending queer themes with a Coen brothers-esque twist. As audiences embark on this wild ride with the lesbian duo, the film promises laughter, heart, and a celebration of diversity on the big screen.

Drive-Away Dolls is currently showing in theaters, inviting viewers to experience a one-of-a-kind cinematic journey unlike any other.
