Ethan Ampadu's first words after completing RB Leipzig loan deal from Chelsea

Ethan Ampadu has completed his season-long loan deal with RB Leipzig and believes it will become the perfect step for him in his career.

The 18-year-old had a difficult 2018/19 season, playing rarely under Maurizio Sarri and then also having to come through back issues that saw him out of action for a few weeks.

Despite impressing Frank Lampard during pre-season, Chelsea wanted Ampadu to head out for a season away from Stamford Bridge so that he get regular first team football.

Leipzig have been known for developing young talent, with Arsenal sending youngster Emile Smiith Rowe on loan there last season and Ademola Lookman on the verge of signing a permanent deal.

A year in Germany is certainly something that could really help the Wales international in the future, and Ampadu is looking forward  to working with their head coach Julian Nagelsmann.

"I am very happy to be at RB Leipzig and start the season with the team. I want to get to know the team as quickly as possible and integrate myself," he told the RB Leipzig website.

"I've been following the club in recent years and saw how fantastic young players have come to develop here and what potential there is in this club. So it's the perfect step for me."

"I'm really happy to be wearing the RB Leipzig jersey now. I have heard a lot about the club and am convinced that the way football is played here suits me very well.

"I already know some of my new teammates: I've already played with Jean-Kévin Augustin in Paris, with Dayot Upamecano and Nordi Mukiele in the French U21 national team.

"Therefore, I am optimistic that I can come here [and settle] quickly."
