Esther McVey's former agent brands her 'showbiz pariah' after Lorraine Kelly row

Esther McVey's former agent has waded into the debate after her spat with Lorraine Kelly .

Jon Roseman, who represented the Tory leadership candidate before she became MP for Tatton, branded his former client a 'showbiz pariah'.

McVey had an awkward run in with her former colleague Lorraine when she appeared on Good Morning Britain earlier this week, with the Scottish star awkwardly dodging questions about their time working together.

The politician sensationally claimed that Lorraine must have been jealous of her success to react in the way she did.

Now Mr Roseman claimed "few people liked" McVey when she worked as a TV presenter in the nineties.

He says she swooped in to take the GMTV presenting job after Fiona Phillips went on maternity leave, a role expected to go to Penny Smith.

Writing in the Daily Mail , Jon explained: "She was widely perceived as the girl who took someone else's job from under their nose. Worse than that, she exuded the same lack of warmth that, to me, has characterised her political career.

He also said that she had been shunned by her former showbiz colleagues for her conservative views about LGBT people.

Jon continued: "Homophobia is never tolerated in the entertainment business. A significant number of television celebrities are gay or lesbian, as are some of the most important interviewees.

"By voting against gay marriage, Esther has made herself a pariah among her old colleagues. Though it must be said: they didn't really like her to start with."

Lorraine appeared to snub Esther on the show on Monday, with the MP later claiming it was to do with their GMTV history and Eamonn Holmes.

But Lorraine was quick to deny her claims, including that they shared a dressing room back in the day, suggesting her reasons for the snub had no truth to them.

She went on to suggest the real reason for the awkward look as because she didn’t agree with her politics.
