Ester Sokler completes Aberdeen FC transfer as Slovenian striker pens 3-year Pittodrie deal

Aberdeen have made Slovenian striker Ester Sokler their third new signing of the summer.

Sokler pens a three year-deal at Pittodrie signing from NK Radomlje for an undisclosed fee. The 24-year-old netted 10 goals in 30 league games last season and arrives to bolster Barry Robson's forward line.

The striker becomes Robson’s second signing in as many days following the permanent arrival of Leighton Clarkson from Liverpool on Thursday. Sokler started his career with NK Krsko before a spell at Brexice 1919. He joined Radomlje last summer where he had hit double figures to help his side to a seventh-place finish in the PrvaLiga. He now heads to Aberdeen to continue his development. Robson said: “Ester is a striker with all the key attributes needed to be a success here and he further strengthens our attacking options for next season.

“He fits the profile of striker we were searching for, someone who can continue to develop in the correct environment and is another good example of our overall recruitment strategy, looking further afield for players who we believe can make a positive impact here. We hope he will make as smooth a transition as Rama, Bojan and Duk have since they joined the club, and we look forward to working with Ester.”

Sokler is likely to be Aberdeen’s third striker, behind Duk and Miovski. Aberdeen do not want to lose their strike stars as they gear up for an assault on the European group stage.
