Essex stabbing: Man 'knifed in the back' in park

A man has been rushed to hospital after he became the latest victim of the knife crime epidemic.

The victim was knifed in "a targeted attack" in Central Park in Chelmsford, Essex.

It is said to have happened near a children's play area in the busy attraction.

As many as five police cars and an air ambulance have been called to the park entrance, Essex Live says.

The park has been cordoned off since around 6pm when an air ambulance was seen land.

The nature of the man's injuries is not yet known.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "We were called at around 5.45pm today, Monday, April 1, with reports a man had suffered a stab wound to the back in Central Park.

"We received reports that he was approached by a man close to a children’s play area and attacked, in what we believe to be a targeted attack.
