Essential shops Edinburgh: The full list of stores that will stay open during level four lockdown

As Edinburgh and the rest of Scotland heads for level four restrictions, things will look very different across the country.

After being in level three for the past few months, Edinburgh will now see non-essential shops, restaurants and even gyms close for a period of three weeks.

Taken as "preventative action" against the new Covid strain, the Scottish Government are hoping to limit the number of interactions in the next few weeks to minimise the spread.

However, level four is not identical to the initial lockdown experienced in March, and does offer a little more leeway.

As well as being able to leave your home more than once a day, the list of essential shops that will remain open is slightly larger than earlier in the year.

Today (Tuesday), the list was updated after Nicola Sturgeon confirmed that the list of essential shops would no longer contain homeware and garden centres.

Although we cannot list every shop in the city that will continue to trade, below is a list of some of the larger retailers you can visit during the level four lockdown.

If you are aware of any others, please get in touch with us on Facebook and twitter so we can add them to the list.
