Essential road works will see Lanarkshire road closed tonight

Essential road safety improvements on the A726 at College Milton are taking place tonight (Wednesday, March 24) between the hours of 8pm and 6am.

This scheme, forms part of the installation of a controlled pedestrian facility with a value of £50,000, which will benefit road users, crossing the A726 (Queensway) dual carriageway.

The work will be carried out under a full closure of the A726 from the Queensway at its junction with B761 West Mains Road (McDonalds Roundabout) to B764 Eaglesham Road Junction (KFC Roundabout) to allow resurfacing and new road markings to be installed for the controlled crossing.

Eastbound traffic will be diverted to exit the A726 Queensway and follow the B761 West Mains Road until it reaches the Priestknowe Roundabout where it will join Churchill Avenue. Traffic will proceed through Centre Roundabout and Murray Roundabout where it will be able to re-join the A726 and diversion will end.

Westbound traffic will be diverted to exit the A726 Queensway at the B764 Eaglesham Road and will follow diversion signage on this route for 2km. Traffic will then exit the B764 onto Redwood Drive, Hairmyres and will continue in a northerly direction to join the Glasgow Southern Orbital (A726). From here, traffic will follow signage to re-join the A726/A727 at Phillipshill where diversion will end.

Traffic Scotland thanks road users in advance for their patience while this essential road safety improvements are undertaken.
