A community hall in East Kilbride remains closed and will not be used as a polling station for the second year running.
Kirktonholme Hall couldn't be used at last year's Holyrood election after a burst pipe caused nearly £20k worth of damage.
It was also closed due to the COVID pandemic and has yet to reopen for bookings, leaving community groups looking for alternative accommodation.
Twelve-months down the line, Labour election candidate, Joe Fagan, is calling for it to be repaired and reopened as a matter of urgency.
It is the only community hall in the West Mains area and voters in next moth's local elections will have to go to vote at Kirktonholme Primary School instead.
South Lanarkshire Council have said, however, that work is due to begin in early May.
Election candidate Joe Fagan told Lanarkshire Live : “Kirktonholme Hall should have reopened last year but it seems that essential repairs still have not taken place.
"The hall is normally a polling station and in this year’s local elections, for the second year running, voters who normally cast their vote their will have to vote at Kirktonholme Primary School, the only other polling station in West Mains.
“What is most concerning is that community groups have been displaced and the people of West Mains have been denied the use of a local facility.
"Our community is beginning to open up again after COVID, but our communities facilities are not. People are understandably concerned that the hall is being neglected.
“Kriktonholme Community Hall should be repaired and reopened. The future of a community facility, open and accessible to the people of West Mains, must be secured.”
Daniel Lowe, the council’s executive director, housing and technical resources, said: “As noted previously the hall is being repaired but the works were delayed.
“These are now expected to start in early May and take between six to eight weeks to complete.”
Other candidates sitting in the East Kilbride Central North Ward are: Alex Brown (Scottish Conservative and Unionist), Tom Bryson (Scottish Liberal Democrats), Grant Ferguson (Scottish National Party), Kristofer Keane (Independent), Hugh Macdonald (Scottish National Party) and Tam Mitchell (Scottish Labour).
