The fate of the government will be in the hands of the parliament, said Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi during a news conference in Carthage on Thursday.
He denied addressing the parliament regarding any constitutional breaches, affirming that there is an understanding between him and the prime minister concerning the ministerial amendment.
The president reminded Tunisians that he is the sole figure elected directly by the people, stressing that he is not clinging on to remain in power.
Meanwhile, Ennahda movement condemned attempts to ignite conflict between it and the president.
It reaffirmed that “respect for the institution of the presidency is a requirement of respect for the state.”
The movement expressed its appreciation for the president’s efforts to defend the national interest and to keep the country safe from internal and external crises.
It considered that the differences in views on the issue of government stability does not indicate a denial of the president or an attempt to cause a rift with him.
Essebsi commented on the statement of Ennahda movement, saying that he backed its presence in the political scene.
