ESPN Week 3 Power Rankings: Bears fall despite win vs. Broncos

While Eddy Pineiro’s late heroics delivered the Chicago Bears its first win of the season, not everyone feels confident in this Bears team right now, as evidenced by ESPN’s latest power rankings.

The Bears dropped one spot from No. 13 to No. 14 in ESPN’s Week 3 Power Rankings following Week 2’s close call. In terms of surprises — pleasant surprises — ESPN’s Jeff Dickerson, like the rest of Bears nation, was wowed by one Eddy Pineiro.

Are you kidding me? Kicker Eddy Pineiro by a landslide. The Bears spent the entire offseason searching for a kicker, and it turns out, after two games, they might have their guy. Pineiro is a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals on the season, including Sunday’s dramatic 53-yard game winner over the Broncos. The Bears’ biggest offseason question might be solved. Now if only Pineiro could play quarterback

The Bears are currently ranked behind both the Green Bay Packers (No. 6) and Minnesota Vikings (No. 11). The Bears, who lost the season opener to the Packers, will face the Vikings in Week 4 with a chance to even their division record at .500.

But before that, Chicago travels to Washington for some more primetime action on Monday Night Football, where they’ll either emerge with a winning record or a losing record.
