The Chicago Cubs' popularity was reaffirmed Thursday when ESPN announced it would televise their April 2 season opener at St. Louis and their April 10 home opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The season opener was moved up by one day to accommodate a national television audience and will start at 7:35 p.m.
April 3 will now serve as a day off, followed by games on April 4 at 7:15 p.m. and April 5 at 12:45 p.m. at Busch Stadium.
ESPN will treat the Cubs' home opener as if it were a Sunday night telecast and will start at approximately 7:05 p.m.
