ESPN teases E:60 piece on Alex Smith’s recovery from gruesome leg injury

As Washington Redskins quarterback starts to eye what once seemed like an unlikely return to the NFL, which could potentially happen in time for the 2020 season to begin, more stories about his recovery are starting to come to the surface.

On Saturday morning, ESPN teased a documentary piece they did on Smith’s recovery, working with him through the process and delving into the pain and work that he went through. There were also a number of scary moments, where Smith said at times he was ‘lucky to be alive’ and fighting to decide whether his leg should be amputated or not.

Coming in April, ESPN will release an E:60 piece on Smith’s recovery, where they have been working for over a year to gather all of the material necessary to accurately tell his story. Smith’s story is far from over, as he has a chance to compete with quarterback Dwayne Haskins for the starting job in Washington this coming year, should his recovery continue down the right track.
