ESPN Soccer Analyst Shaka Hislop Passes Out on Air

Former goalkeeper Shaka Hislop, an ESPN soccer analyst, passed out on the field before a friendly match between AC Milan and Real Madrid Sunday at the Rose Bowl.

Hislop keeled over while on air discussing Paris-Saint Germain star Kylian Mbappe on the network's pregame show, with co-host Dan Thomas immediately signaling for medical attention. The show cut to commercial break as personnel rushed on to the field to assist Hislop.

The 54-year-old Hislop played professionally from 1992–2007 for Reading, Newcastle UnitedWest Ham, Portsmouth and FC Dallas. He played internationally for Trinidad and Tobago, including in the 2006 World Cup.

Thomas took to the air later in the contest to indicate that Hislop was okay and recovering.

"My mate Shaka, he's not here, but as it stands, it's good news," Thomas told viewers. "He's conscious, he's talking. I think he's a little embarrassed about it all, he's apologized profusely. Not a man who likes people to make a fuss of him."
