ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt sends heartfelt message to Dan Patrick

On Thursday, Dan Patrick took time out on his radio show to reveal he’s struggled with health problems stemming from issues with Polymyalgia Rheumatica, which have included taking medication and light chemotherapy treatments that have resulted in side effects including memory loss.

There were prayers and supportive tweets that came in from many people on Twitter, but ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt took it a step further. On the Thursday night edition of his SportsCenter, he took three minutes of his “One Big Thing” segment to talk about Patrick. He talked about having Patrick on the first episode of his show and Patrick’s 15-year award from Disney under the set’s desk. And he paid tribute to Patrick:

“Dan has always been supportive and helpful to me and for a guy who was an OG here, that means more than I can say. And there’s no way to repay but it’s still important to say publicly what I shared privately earlier today. Love and respect, DP and as your treatments continue, our wish for you, only good things. Get well, stay that way.”
