ESPN’s NFL re-draft highlights the ample young Browns talent

Much is made of the high-end potential for the Cleveland Browns even though the team is coming off a disappointing 6-10 season. The reason why so many see the potential for greatness is simple:

The Browns are loaded with top-end young talents.

That fact is readily evident in reviewing ESPN’s ambitious NFL re-draft project. The network had the team analysts for all 32 franchises start from scratch and select four players per team to build a Super Bowl-winning team.

Using the 2020 NFL Draft order (scratching out trades) and snaking through the first 128 picks, the analysts plucked six Browns players in the process. As was the case with most first-round choices, quarterback was up first.

Baker Mayfield came off the board at No. 21 overall. He was the 16th QB taken, an indication of just how vital having a good quarterback is for team success. Mayfield was the only Browns player to go in the first round.

The rest of the Browns and where they slotted in ESPN’s re-draft:

Myles Garrett – 34th

Odell Beckham Jr. – 54th

Nick Chubb – 96th

Jarvis Landry – 119th

Jedrick Wills – 122nd

No team topped the five Browns offensive players who were taken.

The best part for the Browns? Landy is the oldest Cleveland player who made the cut, and he’s still just 27.
