ESPN’s Mike Clay predicts Tennessee Titans won’t make playoffs in 2020

The Tennessee Titans are a team to watch this season after making an AFC Championship Game appearance in 2019 off the heels of years of underwhelming finishes.

The team made what could prove to be some valuable selections in the 2020 NFL Draft, and will also return both quarterback Ryan Tannehill and running back Derrick Henry to what was a nearly unstoppable offense toward the end of last season.

But many have already begun doubting the Titans can repeat this kind of success in 2020.

ESPN’s Mike Clay predicts the Titans will finish second in the AFC South behind the Indianapolis Colts and on the outside looking in for the playoffs.

His win-loss projection for the Titans is 8.1-7.9, so, potentially worse than the 9-7 record Tennessee has ended the regular season with in each of the past four seasons.

This leaves the Titans picking at No. 16 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, a far cry from the No. 29 spot they chose from in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

That’s spot is ahead of the Detroit Lions, and behind the New England Patriots.

It’s an interesting season for the Titans, a team that has high expectations going into 2020.

While Tennessee seems to have finally found its man at quarterback, questions remains about how head coach Mike Vrabel will run things on defense after not naming a replacement at defensive coordinator for Dean Pees.
